Granddaughter Jane’s Sunbonnet Sue Quilt

Started the Sunbonnet blocks a number of years ago & it really needed to be finished, Jane will be ten this year so I hope that she will still enjoy it.

Sunbonnet Sue Blocks appliqued on to calico also made the hearts & of course a friend for Sue.

The Blocks after years of sitting around , eventually were brought out & a sashing was added. Didn’t have enough of the blocks to make a complete quilt so it had to be blocks made from other fabrics to make it big enough for a single bed.

Had heard about a Disappearing Nine Patch & thought that sounded easy to do. Into Google & find out how to do it.

Enjoyed the Nine Patch as it allowed me to really mix & match my fabrics. The blocks all came together quite nicely.

The Sue & friend blocks began to come to life. Slowly but surely all the blocks got sewn together & a quilt top was ready for its next stage.
With help from Karen the batting & backing went on the quilt. It came home & got rolled up & put along the top of the sofa. There to stay for months &  months. Made one attempt at quilting it & really didn’t like what I had done, so it got rolled up again &  laid on the back of sofa.
Until after seeing the White Antique Quilt completed this one just had to be finished.  This time I enjoyed doing the quilting.

So now we have the completed quilt November 2011.
I am so pleased to see the quilt completed & even labeled, it is now waiting to be dispatched up to Auckla
Another UFO completed a few more still to go.
